1. Did you create a Google Site Map?

There are two different types of site maps. We’re not talking about an html site map page, we’re talking about an XML Site map that should be submitted directly to Google using Google’s Webmaster Tools.

2. Does your site validate with the World Wide Web      Consortium (W3C)?

Go to the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and enter your domain name in the box provided and click the “Check” button.

If there are no errors on your page you will receive a Congratulations! This document was successfully checked. If there were errors on your page they will be listed along with some helpful suggestions to correct the problems.

3. How does your Title Tag, Description Tag, and Search     Engine Optimization (SEO) score rank?

Visit Whois Source and enter your domain name in the box provided and click the “Check” button. Scroll down the page and click the “Site Profile” tab to review your SEO score. Ideally you want to rank above 90 or 95 percent for best results.

4. Does your website have a Custom 404 Error Page?

The best way to find out if your website has a custom error page is go to a page on your site that does not exist. To test your website, go to your home page. After the .com, .net or what ever extension your site uses, put a forward slash (“/”) and then type ThisIsAtest and click the go button.

Does the page it took you to look like the rest of your site? If not go to our Attorney Website Designers Home Page and enter the same test sample. Notice the error page looks just like our website; therefore, the customer is more likely to click on one of the links in the left navigation area.

5. Does your law firm website have a custom favicon?

It adds a nice touch to your website if you have a favicon or small image that appears in the browser url that identifies your website.
